Congratulations to Miller Primary who are STEM School of the Month for September!
Miller Primary have had a STEM filled month this September by running their very own Science Week. The week saw Primary 1 to 4 visit the Glasgow Science Centre to take advantage of the various exhibits and science shows while Primary 7 visited Castlemilk High School for an action packed lesson on metals in the science lab.
Miller Primary also arranged for STEM ambassadors to visit the school and give live interactive demos and career advice to pupils on what to do when they leave school.
Classes worked STEM into other lessons by looking at the environment and structures around them and using their scientific inquiry skills to question what they saw. This included looking at scientific news stories in literacy lessons, translating STEM words in language lessons and looking at the structure of the celling lights in their assembly hall.
Primary 5 pupils also worked in teams to design and build a model that collects rain water. They tested various materials to see how effective they were and then used these results to inform their final model.
