Congratulations to Hyndland Secondary who are STEM School of the Month for November!
Hyndland Secondary have had a STEM packed month with some great classroom practice, visits to their feeder primary schools and trips for both BGE and senior pupils.
During the summer, 19 of Hyndland's young people went on an expedition to Ecuador & Galapagos, including spending a week living and carrying out research in the Amazon Rainforest. Eager to share their experience with others, these young STEM Leaders developed an impressive 1 hour lesson and have presented this to primary schools across the city who are learning about the rainforest
A number of pupils also attended the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) 2018 conference at the Armadillo to learn all about the current research and career opportunities in health care and medicine.
There has been lots of STEM activity going on in classrooms. S3 pupils created poems about how plastic is impacting our oceans while S6 pupils dissected eyeballs. Hyndland Secondary also have a paired maths group which partners S6 with S1 pupils to help improve numeracy skills.
