STEM School of the Month - Mar '19
Congratulations to Sandwood Primary who are STEM School of the Month for March.
Primary 2 were learning all about things 'Made in Scotland' this month and had a parent to visit the class and talk about their work at the Govan Shipyards and the different careers involved. Pupils in the LCR group were also learning about all of the skills needed to be an architect. They then used these skills to design and construct models of buildings.
Primary 7 have been hard at work on their Polar Explorer topic. They investigated how our bodies react to cold temperatures and how to survive as a polar explorer. The class also visited the R.S.S. Discovery in Dundee to learn about the history of artic exploration.
Sandwood Primary also had an action packed British Science Week. To kick things off P3 and P7 worked together to write a song about climate change which can be found on the school YouTube channel. They also organised their first STEM Fair which saw pupils and parents from across the learning community leading activities for everyone to take part in. Pupils were able to question industry professionals about their careers and take part in a activities which included; coding, engineering and fair testing.
Well done!
