National Museums of Scotland

The National Museums Scotland’s STEM resources collection is bursting with games, stories and virtual exhibits to be explored . Do you have secondary aged pupils interested in pursuing a career in medicine or nursing? Set them the challenge of playing the GEN game and see if they can follow the correct medical processes needed to diagnose and treat different illnesses. Good luck keeping the patient alive: it’s trickier than it looks!

For younger pupils, learn about Freddy the Robot, the world’s first seeing and feeling robot. Watch a clip of Freddy and other robots from the past at work and see how they compare to modern robots like those working on Mars. Set pupils the task of designing their own robot to meet a specific need or if dinosaurs are their thing, follow instructions and build a 3D recyclesaurus.
