Viridor Work Experience Programme 2018

Monday 11th to Friday 15th of June

This fun, exciting and educational Work Experience Programme is ideally suited to any students interested in STEM activities and a career in engineering. The programme will include learning experiences in Recycling and Energy Recovery, covering various engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Chemical.

The successful applicants will get involved in engineering activities and meet with representatives of various disciplines to gain an understanding of the variety of work we undertake and an appreciation of the cross section of skills needed to be successful in this environment.

Successful candidates will be expected to be in attendance every day throughout the week in June. The learning experience will include working as part of a team using the skills and information they acquire during the week, culminating in a team presentation on the final day.

By the end of the programme all participants will have experienced a better understanding of the types of careers available in the STEM environment and the various routes of entry to engineering. Candidates will also receive a certificate on completion of the week’s Work Experience Programme which can support their CV.

The location for the programme is the Glasgow Recycling and Renewable Energy Centre, 425 Polmadie Road, Glasgow G42 0PJ.

Applicants should ideally be interested in Engineering or the Environment as a future career to maximise this opportunity.
